| Scottsdale Unified School District is committed to protecting the health and safety of our students and staff while providing and encouraging appropriate physical activities and opportunities during the school day. While it is important for children to exercise, we are mindful of the outside temperature and heat index. There are times that students’ activities may be altered due to the weather. We monitor daily the temperature, heat index, and air quality as we determine the level of outdoor activity for our students. If you have any questions, please contact your school nurse. |
Scottsdale Unified School District (SUSD) is hosting a 2010 Bond Program Road Show at each complex to provide factual information to the community about the upcoming bond initiative. Each meetings will include a presentation from Superintendent Dr. Gary T. Catalani and Dr. David Peterson, assistant superintendent of facilities and operations, followed by a Q&A session for the public. SUSD Administrators will also be present. See Road Show Dates
School has been in session for a few weeks at Scottsdale Unified School District. During the first few days of school, District administrators were on campuses to help assist principals with morning arrival and afternoon dismissal of our students. Although there were some initial challenges, I am proud of how staff, students and parents worked together to get the 2010-11 school year off to a good start. see September Letter
Elementary School Parent/Teacher Conferences are scheduled for the week of October 25th and January 31st. Each school will send out additional information regarding specific times.

Gifted Testing!
All 3rd grade students took the Cognitive Abilities Test- called the Cogat--the week of August 23rd in their regular classrooms. The Cogat is the test the Scottsdale School district uses to identify gifted students.
Students in 1st, 2nd, 4th, and 5th grade may take the Cogat the week of August 30th. Parents needed to fill out and submit a testing referral form no later than Friday, August 20th in order to have their child tested that week. (3rd graders will not need a testing referral form). This test is given by Mrs. Diane Knudsen, the gifted specialist here at DCES. Students will be brought into her classroom for the testing on three separate days that week.
Kindergarteners may test in January or June of 2011.
